16,979,000 USD for Velazquez in London
Sotheby’s sold a Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez work “Saint Ruffina” for 8,420,000 GBP (16,979,000 USD) in London last July, 04 during an old master paintings sale. In 1948, in New York, this oil on canvas had been sold 8.000 USD of period with an attribution to Murillo. In 1999, the current salesman had bought the painting with his good attribution for 8,912,500 USD in New York. He realized a 8,066,500 USD profit in 8 years.
